City’s New Solid Waste & Recycling Service Provider – EDCO
Effective May 1, 2019, EDCO, City’s new Solid Waste and Recycling service provider, will begin providing waste and recycling services for single-family homes and duplexes in the City of El Segundo. New automated trash, recycling, and green waste carts will be delivered to all residents starting April 24, 2019. An informational tag will be attached to the carts with service details, including collection day-change reminder. If residents would like to dispose of their old trash cans, EDCO will collect them the week following the delivery of the new carts.
At the initial cart delivery, residents will receive one gray 95-gallon trash cart, one blue 95-gallon recycling cart, and one green 95-gallon green waste cart. Residents may also request one (1) additional gray trash cart at no extra cost, two (2) additional blue recycling carts at no extra cost, and two (2) additional green waste carts at no extra cost.
Residents who desire smaller cart(s) can call EDCO’s Customer Service Office at (310) 540-2977 and request smaller 64-gallon or 32-gallon carts instead. Sample carts of all available sizes are displayed at the City Hall, Library, Joslyn Center, and Clubhouse.
For the City’s residents, EDCO has created and launched a unique El Segundo website. Please visit www.edcodisposal.com/el-segundo for more information.
With EDCO’s efficient collection method and optimized routes, the solid waste and recycling collection has been reduced from the current 5-days per week to 4-days per week services, with no collections needed on Friday. While this provides for no residential trash trucks on the roads on Fridays, some of the City’s trash collection and the street sweeping schedule had to change. Please click the link below to see the new Trash Collection Day Map and Street Sweeping Schedule (Street Sweeping Map and Schedule will be posted the week of April 15th):
EDCO and City Public Works staff have held 8 Community Meetings in March/April. Additionally, EDCO will be participating at the Arbor Day, Earth Day, and Hometown Fair events:
• Saturday, April 13th 10am-12pm Arbor Day (Rec & Park near Clubhouse)
• Thursday, April 25th 3pm-7pm Earth Day (Farmers Market)
• Saturday, May 4th 10am-3pm Hometown Fair (Library Park)
