ESFD Represents at 2019 St. Patrick’s Day Parade
The St. Patrick’s Day Parade is a tradition that dates back to March 17, 1762. That is fourteen years (14) before the signing of the Declaration of Independence!!! This year several El Segundo Firefighters donned their Class A uniforms and headed to New York City to participate in the parade and pay homage to a great tradition dating back 257 years.
Captain Jim Tullette, our local historian, along with Engineer Geoff Gerry helped to organize the trip, which also served as an homage to a recent line of duty death of an FDNY Ladder 170 veteran.
Pictured above, from left to right: Captain Dan Engler, Engineer Geoff Gerny, Engineer Nate McIlroy, Firefighter Chase Long, and Firefighter Nicholas Howell. It is fair to say, the City of El Segundo was well represented in 2019. A big thanks to those who participated!
