Fire Station and Police Station Roof Replacement Projects
The Police Department building was constructed in the 1950s and the original roof was replaced in the 1980s. In 1999, the Dispatch center was added to the east end of the building. An increasing number of significant leaks were intruding into the building from open joints along the parapet walls, blisters throughout the roof, and compromised roof drains. These roofs had met and exceeded their 20-25 year life expectancies and were in need of replacement.
Similarly, the Fire Station 1 building was originally constructed in the 1960’s with additions in 1978 and separate Fitness Center added in 1997. The Fire Station 1 roof was replaced in 1998. These roofs had also met and slightly exceeded their life expectancies, and were starting to show signs of failure, including open joints and cracks along the parapet walls and leaks into the apparatus bay.
Construction on the Fire Station began in April 2017 and was completed by the Contractor in August 2017. Shortly thereafter, construction on Police Station began in August 2017 and was completed in January 2018. Pictures below show the before and after conditions of the roof.
