City e-News ~ June / July 2017
City Manager's Message
Welcome back to our third edition of our e-newsletter, where we engage with the community and inform on events, projects, people, and services.
Summer is a special time of year in El Segundo and for me, it always has been. School’s out, families spend time together, and we celebrate the 4th of July unlike any other city in the South Bay. There is no better feeling than peddling over the top of Grand Hill, seeing the world open up in front of you and “flying” your bike to the bottom. It still makes me smile and feel 13 years old again. It’s a little different coming back up but, that’s also memorable.
El Segundo Fire Turns 100
El Segundo Fire Department celebrated its 100 year anniversary. Watch a brief history video and read ESFD’s purpose statement and values for the next 100 years. Also, check out the difference we are making with burn victims. Learn about how we recruit and retain women in fire service. Last but not least, help us welcome new firefighter, Edan Douek!

Marijuana Law Survey
On November 8, 2016, California voters passed Proposition 64, the Adult Use of Marijuana Act (AUMA). As a result of recently passed state laws, the El Segundo City Council is interested in the community’s opinions before it begins considering policy changes. Your feedback is important to us.
