The Many Parts of Your PD
El Segundo Police Department
The El Segundo Police Department is made up of two bureaus, the Administrative Services Bureau and Field Operations Bureau, each one playing an integral part in the success of our daily operations.
In the next several issues of the City e-Newsletter, we will take the opportunity to briefly introduce you to our Department’s specialized Divisions and more importantly, the dedicated men and women that work these assignments to accomplish our Mission of working together to maintain a safe and secure community.
First up is the Patrol Division:
The Patrol Division includes 22 Officers, 2 K-9 Officers, 5 Sergeants and 2 Patrol Lieutenants, and is responsible for patrolling the City 24/7, enforcing all laws, and responding to all calls for service. Patrol Officers begin their day by attending a briefing, where they receive daily training and relevant information from the shift sergeant and Watch Commander. The information they receive may include significant events from the previous shift, crime incidents, wanted suspects, as well as other noteworthy information to keep the city and each other safe.
All of our Patrol Officers are highly trained and adept in responding to emergencies as well as any other calls for service. The Patrol Division is the most visible and largest specialized assignment at ESPD and is proudly referred to as the “backbone” of the Police Department.
