Recreation & Parks – Summer Fun
LET THE GOOD TIMES ROLL
Summer is a special time for us in the Recreation field; the park is full of people playing tennis, enjoying lunch in the park, and the kids from camp can be heard laughing, making those great summer memories. What is better than a swim at the Plunge or Hilltop Pool on a hot summer day or enjoying a Concert in the Park with family and friends? Let us not forget about the events and delicious fruits that will be available at the Farmer’s Market! The Recreation team has a lot of fun planned and hope you can join us!
4TH OF JULY CELEBRATION
The event will be held at Recreation Park located on Eucalyptus Street, between Grand Avenue and Pine Street. Daytime activities feature food and game booths operated by El Segundo community groups, local school groups, sports leagues and programs. There will also be sack races, water balloon tosses, and hula hoop contests. The El Segundo Kiwanis Club will offer its annual pie eating contest while the El Segundo Rotary Club will be holding its annual watermelon eating contest. The evening event features live music performed by the Main Street Band beginning at 5 pm and the evening would not be complete without our Fireworks Spectacular, held at 9:00 pm sharp.
General admission wristbands are available to purchase at each Recreation Park facility for $5. This family event is open to all ages!
Camp out with us on Stevenson Field for the Family Campout on the weekend of August 11th-12th. Spend the night in our park under the stars and moon, roast marshmallows and tell scary stores! Our great Recreation staff provide breakfast and dinner, a movie is shown on our movie screen and there will be plenty of games and crafts to keep the kids busy.
